The task

HAPPYneuron’s most popular exercise with people of all ages. In this exercise, the goal is to form complete words by combining syllables. To make this exercise easier, words are categorized into themes.

What it trains

A person is searching for the name of a flower. It's on the tip of his/her tongue. He/She knows it starts with "am..." What is it? In fact, this task trains the patient’s word knowledge and helps him practice to retrieve words from his language repertoire by using his capacity to anticipate and discriminate words which belong to the same lexical field (theme). Each syllable can be seen as a phonetic cue that facilitates word retrieval.

Parameters

The parameters that can be selected are the number of syllables (2 or 3), the number of words (4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, or 20), the time of response (unlimited, 5, 4, 3, 2, or 1 minute, the help resort (separated syllables, colored syllables, or no help), and the theme choice (manual or random).
