Bernard Croisile Dr. Croisile is a respected neurologist and neuropsychologist with an international reputation for his research on aging and cognition. He was the recipient of the Alzheimer's Disease Parke-Davis Award in 1998 and has written several hundred peer-reviewed articles for scientific publications, papers, and book chapters on aging and cognition, and spoken at hundreds of professional conferences on the prevention of dementia and age-related cognitive decline. Dr. Croisile has been the Chair of the Neuropsychology Department at the Neurological Hospital of Lyon France, since 1992. He received his M.D. and certification in Neurology from Lyon Hospitals and his Neurosciences Specialty degree and Ph.D. in Neuropsychology from University Claude Bernard in Lyon, France.

J. Wesson Ashford, M.D. Ph.D., Senior Research Scientist at Stanford / Veterans Affairs Aging Clinical Research Center

J Wesson Ashford Dr. Ashford is also the Director of the War Related Illness and Injury Study Center at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University (affiliated). He is Chair of the Memory Screening Advisory Board of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, Clinical Editor of the Journal of Alzheimer’s disease, and on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Northern California chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Dr. Ashford graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1970 and received his M.D. from UCLA in 1974 and Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 1984. He trained in Psychiatry and was a founding member of the Neurobehavior Clinic and the first Chief Resident and Associate Director on the Geriatric Psychiatry In-Patient Unit at UCLA. He conducted the first double-blind study of an anti-cholinesterase drug (physostigmine) to treat Alzheimer patients (Ashford et al., 1981), a therapy which is now standard treatment for Alzheimer patients. For many years, Dr. Ashford directed the Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic at the UCLA NeuroPsychiatric Institute and initiated the UCLA/Alzheimer PET scan study. Between 1985 and 2003 he was a faculty member and associated with Alzheimer Centers at Southern Illinois University, University of California-Davis, and University of Kentucky. He has been at the VA Palo Alto and Stanford University since 2003.

Robert Bender Dr. Bender is a Board Certified physician in both Family Practice and Geriatrics who lives and practices in Des Moines, Iowa. He has served on the faculties of Mercy-Mayo Hospital, where he developed and directed the Family Practice residency from 1994-1998, and Iowa Methodist Medical Center, where he was Director of Geriatrics for the Internal Medicine Residency from 1998-2006. He has conducted several research projects on brain aging, brain wellness and Alzheimer's Disease, sponsored by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. In 2005, he was a delegate of the American Geriatrics Society to the White House Conference on Aging. He currently directs the Johnny Orr Memory Center in Des Moines.

Pascal Vianin is a psychologist, a researcher and a psychotherapist (Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy) in the Department of Psychiatry in the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (DP-CHUV) in Lausanne (Switzerland). He received his Ph.D. in the University of Geneva in 1999. His research mainly concerned visual information treatment in simulated environments in 6 to 12 years old children. He has been actively involved in research of perceptual and cognitive deficits in schizophrenia in Lausanne, Switzerland and in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Since 2002, he developed an original cognitive remediation program for patients with schizophrenia. This program contains targeted training modules for the remediation of the deficits measured by a detailed neuropsychological battery. Today a growing number of psychiatric centers in France and in Switzerland are using Vianin’s program.

Sandrine Belier Dr. Bélier received her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Lyon, France, where she regularly teaches Applied Cognitive Sciences to Professional Master's Degree students. She was also a post-PhD researcher in Cognitive Neurosciences with a specialty in Psycholinguistics at the French National Research Center (CNRS) - School of Higher Education in Social Education (EHESS) at the Pierre & Marie Curie University in Paris and at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste, Italy.

Gilles Reilhac Dr. Reilhac was a 4-year member of the Experimental Psychology Laboratory “Memory and Cognition” at the Montpellier 3 University. He concluded his Ph.D. with a thesis on the organization and activation of perceptual knowledge in memory. Following, he worked on his post doctoral research on the memorization of advertisements, specifically on the implicit memorization of advertisements at Bordeaux 2 University (2006) and on the impact of emotion on the memorization of advertisements at Montpellier 3 University (2007).

Michel Noir, Ph.D. Educational Sciences

Michel Noir Dr. Noir contributes heavily to the educational theory behind brain fitness, as well as the creativity necessary to make brain training fun. Dr. Noir received his Ph.D. in Educational Science and post graduate diploma in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Lyon, France. He received his Graduate Diploma, Advanced Graduate Diploma, and Master's in Public Law from Paris Law Faculty. He also holds an Advanced Graduate Diploma in Political Science. Dr. Noir has authored over 15 books on a variety of educational and brain training topics and games.

Franck Tarpin-Bernard, Ph.D. Chief Technology Officer

Franck Tarpin-Bernard Dr. Tarpin-Bernard is instrumental in taking the science and creativity of the scientific team members and making their ideas come alive as innovative, engaging and challenging brain fitness solutions, including performance tracking and personalized coaching. Dr. Tarpin-Bernard also serves as a Professor in Computer Science at the National Institute of Applied Science of Lyon and has published numerous peer-reviewed journal papers and book chapters. He graduated first in his class in engineering from Ecole Centrale de Lyon and later received a Ph.D in computer engineering, also from Ecole Centrale de Lyon.
